US retail sales were strong in January. Reuters reports :

Retail sales surged 2.3 percent in January, nearly triple the expected increase and the largest gain since May 2004, a report on Tuesday from the U.S. Commerce Department show

China's trade surplus rose 46.7 percent in January year-on-year to 9.49 billion dollars.
